welcome to my nightcord at 25:00 fanpage!
vocaloid has been one of my longest running interests in my life; i have hundreds upon hundreds of songs i love and that helped me get through tough times in my life, and i'd always wanted to play the project diva series of games but i never had a playstation that could play them until recently so my first game was megamix on the switch. i loved it for how limited it was, and was so excited when i learned of a mobile app that felt like a successor to it, meaning i could play it anywhere, it seemed. unfortunately, my ipod at the time couldn't run it, and it took another few years until i had a phone i could play it on (i got my first phone in 2022... at 20 years old ^_^;) and one of the first apps i downloaded was project sekai.
i had no idea what i was getting into. i was completely blind to the story, i just vaguely knew it was a gacha game with original characters. i'd even heard some covers before upon looking for the original songs, i remember being surprised songs like jishoumushoku, near, and lonely universe were in a miku game, especially the latter for including flower in it. i also had known of multiple sekai commissions without ever knowing they were made for project sekai, imagine my dumbfounded expression when i finally figured out why "needLe" by deco*27 was spelled like that.
anyways, at the time i was really pessimistic. my life had especially been going downhill at that point and i felt worse off than ever. i became bitter at a little anime app when i was reading these stories to progress, seeing these nice clean rooms with these everyday anime high schoolers as someone who grew up in a wreck of a house and totally isolated.
and then i started nightcord's story, and what an intro. instantly hooked wondering what this girl could have possibly done to get her father hospitalized, and then we immediately fade into her present day messy room, three energy drink cans on the desk and the depression outfit she wore. i knew this had to be the unit for me. they were the story i focused on completing (back when we had to level up the units to unlock the story chapters...) and i'd truly never before sobbed so much reading a video game story for the first time when mafuyu lashed out at nightcord. it felt so painfully relatably messy and raw. nightcord made moves that'd be seen as wrong, unpalatable, not perfectly and delicately mentally ill but truly hurting teenagers, and it felt like a story i'd been looking for all along, and that feeling only continued to grow with every story i read. to be honest, the messiness of kanade and mafuyu's dynamic from the start also comforted me in its complexity and writing, it actually reminded me of how oddly comforted i felt by utena, the rooftop scene being my favorite in the series. and once i came to learn more about ena and mizuki, and how they all intersected and paralleled in such a beautiful way, i just became so obsessed. not to mention, they cover a LOT of my favorite vocaloid songs.
i truly think nightcord has helped my life a lot. i feel their stories have helped me process myself so much, and i find in the end they give me a pure sense of hope, no matter how gloomy they are. i truly believe light and hope and love are important themes within their story. it's like a warm hug after a nice long cry (not that i'd know what that's like. but kanade doesn't either so xP) i relate to every nightcord girl and i don't find that something sad but a testament to their wonderful writing and how i believe they'll help a lot a of people. they have already. and to think i only downloaded this game just to play rolling girl at the laundromat.
anyway this is my page to yap about them and call them yuriful sometimes xP
